Pre-Tan Preparation…..

• Shave/wax 24 hours prior to your tan.
• Thoroughly exfoliate skin, paying extra attention to elbows, knees and heels.
• Your skin must be completely free of any moisturizer, deodorant, makeup or perfumes.

What to Wear…..

• Come in wearing loose clothing.
• For the actual tan application, you can wear whatever you are comfortable in (bikinis, underwear or nude).

Aftercare…..

• Do not shower for 8-10 hours.
• Do not exercise or sweat profusely until showered.
• Tan will go darker over time; and excess will wash off in shower.
• Avoid long baths.

Aftercare…..

• Moisturise your skin with tea-tree/lavender antiseptic lotion, because the hair follicles are open and more susceptible to infection.
• Loofah your skin one week after your wax with tea-tree wash on the gloves or a mitt 2-3 times a week.
• Shower immediately after exercise to clear follicles of perspiration, which can lead to bacterial infections.
• Wear cotton underwear/no underwear and allow your skin to breathe at night as this area is always covered.
• Apply ice compress, an anti-histamine lotion or moisturizer if your skin is sensitive after wax to reduce redness, hiving or irritation.
• Don’t loofah your skin every day. This dries up your natural oils from the skins surface making it harder for the hairs to break through the skin.
• Don’t apply deodorant until 24 hours after wax.
• Don’t apply make-up directly after facial wax.
• Don’t have a solarium or go in the sun 24 hours before or after your wax as you may burn.
• Don’t go to the gym or exercise directly after wax.
• Don’t swim in chlorinated pools or the beach until 24 hours after wax.
• Don’t wear tight rubbing clothes after your wax as it may irritate the skin.
• Don’t wax just prior to, or just after menstrual cycle, as skin is more sensitive (ouch!)

For people who have a tendency to bite or pick at their nails, there is a 90 percent success rate of stopping this habit with artificial nail applications. There are two reasons for this. First, people are less likely to ruin something they’ve spent time and money on. Secondly, nail biters are generally inspired by having beautiful hands for the first time in their lives. It can give you the long, healthy-looking nails you’ve always wanted.

Artificial nails can actually improve the health of your natural nails by protecting them from biting, picking, excess moisture and other elements that can weaken or damage them.

Every two to three weeks your artificial nails will need to be refilled in the area near the cuticle between where the natural nail has grown and where the artificial nail or tip is attached. This “fill” includes smoothing, re-sanitising and re-applying the acrylic where it has naturally grown out.

It is important to have regular refills because if the acrylic lifts away from the natural nail, moisture and bacteria can accumulate between them.

Nails can split or yellow for a number of reasons. Excessive exposure to the elements or chemicals, poor diet, nail biting and other habits can be the cause.

Aftercare…..

• Do not pick or bite your nails or cuticles. Doing this will cause your nail enhancements to weaken which will substantially reduce their life. This will also cause damage to the natural nail.
• Do not use your nails to pick or scratch. This puts pressure on the enhancement and may cause them to weaken and break.
• Nail enhancements will be weakened and damaged by harsh treatment, for example exposing them to detergents. Always wear cotton lined rubber gloves, or your nails could become brittle and more prone to breakage.
• Nail enhancements of any kind will need maintenance. Make sure you keep all your maintenance appointments. They are really important for keeping your nails looking beautiful and detecting any possible problems.
• Do not buff your nails around the cuticle area as this can cause serious damage to the natural nail.
• Nail enhancements can be removed safely with an appropriate solution. This should be followed by a manicure to restore flexibility and moisture to the natural nail. This is a professional procedure and should only be performed by a qualified technician.
• If you notice any discolouration under your enhancements, please call for an appointment as soon as possible. Always use a base coat when using coloured polishes. A top coat will help prevent chipping.
• Always use a non-acetone polish remover. This is considered the most appropriate for artificial nail structures.
• Using recommended oil on your nails and cuticles will prolong the life of your enhancements, and reduce the risk of breakage by keeping your natural nail flexible.
• Treat your new enhancements with care until you get used to them. There are many traps for unsuspecting nails, (car doors, ring pulls on cans etc) Be careful!

A Manicure or Pedicure should not be done on or during the time that you have a spray tan on. These treatments need to be done before a spray tan or after your spray tan has worn off.

Manicures and Pedicures involve massaging parts that are both overworked and ignored in modern day lifestyles. Circulation, stress relief as well as increased movement for those who may suffer from Arthritis, are some of the benefits they can offer you.

Manicures are only for people who have natural nails and not for acrylic nails. A Manicure normally takes between 15 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes depending on the type of Manicure treatment you require. Many clients both men and women enjoy regular Manicures to ensure that their nails are kept neat and tidy and that their hands look groomed and well cared for. Those with damaged or dehydrated nails often find that a regular Manicure improves the condition and appearance of both hands and nails. The warm Paraffin is one of the most effective ways of applying heat to reduce the swelling in musceles, decrease inflammation of joints and connective tissues, soothe pain from arthritis and improve circulation.

Treatment of Hands/Feet:.....from $40.00

    *    Treatment starts with the preparation of the hands /feet with sterilising solution.
    *    The hand/foot  is put into the liquid wax which is kept at 50C.  The wax covers the hand/foot and warms it.
    *    The hand/foot is removed from the liquid wax and the wax sets.  The heat is kept within the wax keeping the hand/foot warm and soothing the tissues. This is repeated 3 times.
    *    The hand/foot is put into a plastic bag to keep the warmth and moisture close the skin.
    *    The hand/foot in the plastic bag is placed into a comfortable insulated mitten.  The warmth from the wax radiates into the hand/foot further soothing it. 
    *    After 10 minutes of warmth, the insulated mitten is removed.
    *    The bag and wax removed in one movement using soft tissue.
    *    The hand/foot is warm and soothed - the skin smooth and fresh feeling.
    *    The treatment is finished off with a moisturiser cream which is rubbed into the skin.

                                                                                                                        HEAD LICE INFORMATION:

Head lice are tiny blood-sucking insects without wings that crawl quickly and move fast on the scalp, and so they are often hard to see.  Head lice live exclusively on human blood, and need warmth of a human scalp to live.  They are about 2mm to 3mm long, with 6 legs, each with a claw at the end and usually found on the head, especially around the nape of the neck and the area behind the ears.

Head lice can't fly, hop or jump and can only be transmitted from one person to another by close head to head contact.  This can be done by sitting or lying next to a person with head lice, or by sharing items such as combs or brushes, coats, furniture pillows or bed pillows.  Head lice is not associated with a lack of cleanliness (in fact, some believe that lice prefer clean hair).

Head lice die if they leave the head as they cannot live and lay eggs away from a warm human scalp.  The only way head lice can get water and food is by sucking blood from the scalp.  Head lice will dehydrate when off the head.  A small number of lice do move down to pillow slips at night so when you are treating your child's hair, ensure that pillow slips are changed.

The First Stage - Nits - Picture 1
Head lice eggs are called Nits.  Nits are laid by the adult (female) louse which can lay up to 3 to 8 eggs (Nits) per day and the eggs are laid close to their food supply - the scalp;  because they require body heat for incubation and are firmly stuck to the hair.  The eggs are a yellow-white color and are often seen behind the ears and towards the nape of the neck within 1.5cm of the scalp. 

The Second Stage - Nymps - Picture 2
The nymph emerges 6 to 7 days.  The nit shell stays attached to the hair and turns a dull yellow color.  The  nymph looks like an adult louse but is smaller about the size of a pinhead and the same shape as the adult louse.

The Third Stage - Adult - Picture 6
Emerging from third stage nymph - picture 5 is when it becomes an adult louse. The adult louse feeds about 5 times a day by piercing the skin with its claws, injecting irritating saliva and sucking blood.  Their color changes to a rust color after feeding.  Head lice hold onto the hair with hook-like claws found at the end of each of their 6 legs.  They are oval in shape with 3 legs and claws at the end of each leg.  Adult lice are active and can travel quickly.  The female louse is larger than the male but very similar where it will begin to reproduce.

Female louse can lay approximately 3 to 8 eggs per day for the next 16 days.

The adult louse having lived on a person's head up to 35 days will die.

If you think your child may have head lice, look very carefully at the scalp and hair.  Look for live eggs and lice, especially around the ears, at the back of the neck and under fringes.  A good light (such as sunlight) and magnifying glass will help, because head lice and eggs are very small.
